Occupied

It has been almost a year since I started this blog and what has changed. Nothing except that I’m not working. Sometimes I think that the word “occupation” is derived from the word “occupied”, simply meaning something to keep you occupied. I haven’t been occupied for many, many months.

I’ve been trying to get out of the IT field ever since I graduated from college. Every time I look for a job, the only opportunities that anyone ever calls me about are IT related and with the economy the way it is, I’m not even getting those calls now. I’m always hoping someone would be willing to take a chance on me but no one ever does. Lots of people dislike their jobs but knowing that you’re not right for a job and not being able to find something else is frustrating. Sometimes, it seems like the only person that understands what I’m going through is my sister, who recently moved across the country to a city where she doesn’t know anyone, hoping that the change in environment would help her figure out her career situation.

Right now I’m looking for a new career, not just another job. But to ease the fears of the people that are concerned about me, I’m willing and available at the moment to do some freelance work either in copy writing, script analyst, Flash development, web content management, or digital video editing. I also make a mean lasagna.

End of bitch, bitch, whine, whine. Going back to watching movies and training videos now.
